About Treacy

Treacy Shaw is an Atlanta artist. Her lifelong interest in art began while studying at Sweetbriar College where she received a B.A. in Studio Art. Post graduation, Treacy worked as an assistant editor at  Modern Bride and Seventeen magazines while attending the New York School of Interior Design. After settling in Atlanta and raising three children with her husband, Mark, she rediscovered her passion for oil painting.

Treacy has always found inspiration in the outdoors, and is well known for her lake and wildlife scenes. She began painting her trademark birddogs and dog portraits after many family hunting outings at Burge Club in Mansfield, GA. And, she is continually drawn to subjects and scenes from her home away from home, Lake Burton.

Treacy has taken classes at the Art Studio in Sandy Springs, and has participated in workshops under artists such as Gary Bodner, Angela Nesbitt, Nancy Franke, Libby Mathews, Sabre Esler, and Anne Blair Brown.  She continues to hone her craft and is currently mentoring with Jim Richards of The Atlanta Fine Arts Academy. Treacy paints "alla prima" with a limited palette capturing light and shadow in abstract forms within her subjects.

Treacy sells her works privately and through the Three Lakes Gallery and Julep Farms in Rabun County, Georgia.
